kfc KENMURE FIGHTS CANCER

An annual project of our Kenmure, Flat Rock, NC, community that raises money for Park Ridge Health and Pardee Memorial Hospital. These are two outstanding local hospitals that use the funds to buy much needed equipment for their cancer units. My wife is active on this charity’s fund raising committee. Kenmure Fights Cancer does not have a web site. Donations can only be made by mail and will be acknowledged when received. Contributions made out to Kenmure Fights Cancer may be sent to:

stg ST. GERARD HOUSE

St. Gerard House, and its Grotto School, has established itself as a resource center in Western North Carolina for families experiencing autism. The Grotto School currently provides training and therapy for eight pre-school children and much needed assistance for their families. I serve as Treasurer on the board of St. Gerard House.

gdog THE GUIDE DOG FOUNDATION FOR THE BLIND AND AMERICA’S VETDOGS

Since 1946, The Guide Dog Foundation has provided guide dogs, free of charge, to the blind and visually impaired, who seek enhanced mobility and independence. A sister organization of The Guide Dog Foundation, America’s VetDogs, was established to provide assistance dogs, free of charge, to disabled veterans and those who have honorably served our country. Both organizations rely on voluntary contributions from individual donors, corporations, foundations and service organizations to fund its efforts.

My wife and I have been “puppy raisers” for over 19 years and have raised and socialized 11 “guide dogs in training”. They have either become working guide dogs or have been placed with a disabled military veteran. Barclay, the last dog we raised, is now in formal training for guide dog work. We’ll keep you posted on his progress. On the trip will be OUR 5 month old “guide dog in training”!

      Chester ER. I don’t have your email so I hope you get this. Right side is feeling a lot better today. We are planning on returning to Chester on Wednesday 8/14 about noon. Will stop by ER and pick up card. We are going to continue the ride west from Chester. Thanks for letting me know.
