So after we saw Barbara and Barclay (hey the first three letters of their names are Bar.. coincidence, I think not). The Robb’s, our next stop, was about 45 minutes away. I thought I would grab a quick nap after Alex had asked me some important questions. She asked what was my favorite thing to smell. I told her a lemon and Indian food. So she built this contraction from the rice we got at the Indian food restaurant the night before. It was a straw stuck in a back of day old rice. It was positioned so I would smell the aroma of the rice (which didn’t really smell). She also put lemon juice on my upper lip and legs. By the way, she said she would sell me the Indian rice thing for $29.95. What a bargin.
Needless to say, when I woke up I was a little confused as to why there was a bag of rice and a straw in my face.
We finally got to the Robbs. They had a very nice house and Joyce had prepared some lunch for us. She even had Ice Cream Sandwiches for dessert. I use to play golf with Wyman and Joyce was in Birthday Club with Georgie. We had known them a long time and hated to see them leave Kenmure but their son lived in this area of Colorado and it worked for them. Pictures.
Well, even though we had known them a long time in Kenmure, we were really just nodding acquaintances. See how we are nodding at each other.
Great visit. So glad we got to see them. Even Quincy had a great time playing with their two dogs.
Our next visit was with Libby. Libby had been our local director for the Guide Dog Foundation in Asheville. But her job with the Forest Service took her to Colorado about 2 years ago. We met her at the Verizon store at the Mall in Westminister. It was good to see her as we had trained 6 dogs under her supervision. She had known just about all of our dogs that we had over the last 5 years. We talked for quite some time while the girls went on a shopping spree with their mom. Eventually it was time to go and we had a lot of miles ahead of us. Didn’t get Libby’s picture but maybe she will send me one.
When we left Libby we drove another 136 miles to Seibert to where we had made a camp ground reservation. We pulled in about 7:30 and got hooked up. The girls fixed a quick dinner of hot dogs with Wolfe brand chili. Yummmm! Long day but we had fun seeing old and new friends.
